  1. Interesting Podcast. Of course with regard to dates out about the birth of Jesus, it is hard for us to realise how difficult it was to piece together an accurate chronology. Most ancient historians around the 1st century used relative dating through events, rulers, regnal years, Olympiads, and wars, reigns of emperors, or religious festivals. So it little surprise that Luke was not always accurate.

Incidentally I've been re-reading Luke and he seems to have more incidents of fatigue than Matthew. There's a certain view that the "we passages" in Acts are a literary device, but has anyone rather seen them as simply another case of fatigue?

    1. Thanks, Tony. Agreed. It's actually a difficult message to convey given some people's sensitivity about these topics, but in spite of the difficulties, Luke actually does a pretty good job, all things considered. I hope in due course to offer my speculation about why Luke has made the error over the census. It's something I don't think anyone else has noticed.

Interesting about fatigue. I agree with respect to the gospel because I can see cases of his fatigue with Mark and Matthew. I'm not sure if I see quite the same thing in Acts but would be interested to hear more.
